About Me

I’m Sinéid McDonald, the herbalist behind McDonald Herbal. My journey into herbal medicine began as a practical path, but it quickly grew into a passion as I discovered just how much medicine was growing right outside my door. The more I studied, the more I was amazed by the power of local plants to support health, vitality, and everyday wellness.

As a graduate of the Practical Herbalism Diploma Program at Wild Rose Herbal College, I learned to blend traditional herbal wisdom with modern, evidence-informed care. My work focuses on using locally grown and wild plants whenever possible, offering thoughtful herbal support that complements conventional healthcare.

I’m especially passionate about women’s health, supporting clients through menstrual concerns and the transitions of perimenopause and menopause. These areas are often underserved in conventional care, and it’s deeply rewarding to help women regain energy, balance, and confidence through herbal support.

McDonald Herbal Studio is located on our small farm in Warkworth, Ontario, where I grow herbs and food for my family while continuing to learn through hands-on cultivation. I’ve always loved the process of starting seeds, so much so that I can't resist starting dozens of varieties of peppers and tomatoes each year.  There’s something magical about watching tiny green shoots grow into plants that nourish both body and spirit. Beyond herbalism, I’m a mom of three wonderful kids who fill my days with joy and energy. When I’m not in the garden, you’ll often find me listening to audiobooks and enjoying the rhythms of home and farm life.

My hope is to serve the community by encouraging more natural wellness practices, so people can feel better, regain vitality, and integrate herbs into their lives before relying on medications whenever possible.

What is an Herbalist?

An herbalist studies plants not just as substances, but as living allies in health and healing. Learning happens through observation, tradition, and direct relationship by growing plants, harvesting them with care, preparing them thoughtfully, and understanding how they interact with the human body.

This work is rooted in the same principles our ancestors relied on. Herbalists listen to the body, notice patterns, and use local plants to support balance, resilience, and recovery. Rather than isolating symptoms, they consider the whole system, including how stress, nourishment, environment, and daily rhythms influence wellbeing. Plants are then chosen to help bring the body back into alignment.

Herbalism blends hands on experience with inherited wisdom and modern understanding. At its core, it reconnects people with natural medicine and supports the body’s ability to restore balance, one plant at a time.

Rooted in Care

At McDonald Herbal, we believe in supporting wellness with compassion and personalized care. We value the power of local plants and the wisdom of traditional herbal medicine, using nature’s resources thoughtfully and responsibly. Currently, our work centers around one-on-one consultations and handcrafted herbal remedies, including tinctures and teas made from locally grown and wildcrafted plants. Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand our offerings by incorporating live and dried blood analysis, providing deeper insight into each client’s health. Our vision is to serve the community with natural wellness options that work alongside modern medicine, so people can lean on plants first and turn to conventional treatments only when truly needed
